13 May A Quiet Power
There’s a kind of magic that happens when you look for the good in others.
When you pause long enough to notice someone’s potential, offer a kind word, or simply choose to believe in someone’s ability—something shifts.
I came across William Arthur Ward’s quote on Mother’s Day and it really sparked my heart,
When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.” It’s a simple idea with far-reaching impact.
As entrepreneurs and parents, it’s easy to get caught in the loop of problem-solving, goal-setting, and performance metrics.
But real leadership—and lasting success—often begins with how we see and treat those around us.
Your team.
Your clients.
Your family.
Even the stranger you meet in line for coffee.
When you hold a generous lens toward others, it strengthens your own sense of clarity, compassion, and confidence.
You become someone others want to follow, work with, and support.
So how can we consistently practice this in the middle of our busy, unpredictable lives?
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help:
Step-by-Step: How to Bring Out the Best in Others (and Yourself)
- Start With Presence
Before meetings or conversations, take a few breaths. Arrive with your attention. People feel when you’re really there. - Look for Strengths, Not Just Skills
Instead of focusing only on what someone can do, reflect on who they are. Are they consistent? Curious? Empathetic? Reflect that back to them. - Ask More Than You Tell
Shift from directing to discovering. Ask open-ended questions that invite people to share their perspective. This builds trust—and often reveals insight. - Celebrate Small Wins
Recognition doesn’t need to be grand. A thoughtful message or brief word of encouragement can shift someone’s entire day. - Model the Mindset You Want to See
If you want others to be optimistic, resilient, and grounded—start with yourself. Let your presence be the mirror. - Be a Keeper of Potential
Sometimes people can’t see their own light. You can be the one who holds it for them until they’re ready.
If you’re an entrepreneur ready to grow—personally and professionally—and want a space where you’re seen, challenged, and supported, I’d love to talk.
