11 Jun Claiming What’s Yours: A Gentle Invitation to Ask for More
by Kalika Yap
What are you ready to claim in your life?
Not from ego. Not from greed.
But from the quiet, soul-deep place that knows: this was always meant for me.
The Wake-Up Call
On January 7th, my family and I were displaced by the wildfires in the Palisades. Amid the chaos, I spent countless hours on the phone with our insurance company—searching policies, making calls, asking questions.
And something became clear:
No one offered us what we were entitled to.
We had to ask.
The more we asked, the more we received—not because we were special, but because we had the courage to claim it.
This is a truth I now carry into life and business.
One dear friend, also displaced, had her family squeezed into a small motel room. Her husband slept on a cot in his office. I gently reminded her:
You can ask for more.
Days later, they moved into a beautiful hotel.
Claiming isn’t arrogance.
It’s self-trust.
It’s a reclaiming of worth.
Home, Reimagined
We’ve now found a new rhythm in our Studio City home. A bit farther from the sea, but much closer to what matters now.
We’ve created:
- A meditation space for stillness and breath
- Gallery walls with artwork from my Palisades home full of life and story
- A grand piano where new melodies take shape
- Cozy, light-strung gardens
- Warm, sacred space for clients
- And energy that flows with intention, thanks to my beloved feng shui teacher, Jayme Barrett
They are simple things.
And yet, they hold the vibration of all we’ve chosen to claim:
Peace. Possibility. Presence.
