29 May The Silent Power of Strength
This past week, I had the honor of speaking at the 2025 LA Region Small Business Forum at the Pasadena Convention Center, hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity.
Many of the attendees were small business owners who’ve recently faced serious challenges—especially those impacted by the wildfires in Altadena. Some are rebuilding from scratch. Others are still finding their footing.
And yet—they came.
Before I shared tips on reaching customers online, I paused to acknowledge something far more important:
Their presence was already proof of their strength.
Just showing up that day—when it might have been easier to stay home, to stay in their shops, to stay overwhelmed—was an act of resiliency.
Because strength doesn’t always shout.
Sometimes it shows up in the quiet act of listening.
In taking notes.
In sitting in community.
In choosing to keep going—not only for ourselves, but for our teams, our families, our customers.
Every person in that room was showing up for more than just their business.
They were showing up for each other.
If you weren’t able to attend, there’s still time to be part of this movement:
